87th & Western is a catalytic community development in south Los Angeles that will revitalize a vibrant yet underutilized retail corridor. The project will include new affordable homes for a diverse mix of residents and incorporate pedestrian-oriented commercial and retail spaces, including a sit-down restaurant. Residents will enjoy green spaces, courtyards, and roof decks offering a variety of active and passive spaces for all ages. Dotted with public art, the exterior plazas will be activated by occasional performances, outdoor dining, and social activities that will be accessible to the surrounding neighborhood during public hours. Onsite property management and social services will be provided. Located within walking distance of St. Andrews Park, grocery stores, a Kaiser medical facility, and robust transit, the project honors the neighboring single-family homes by utilizing a stepped-down design that incorporates townhomes with landscaped front porches.
