ABOUT: There has been no progress in solving California’s housing crisis despite strong support from voters and intense efforts from stakeholder groups. This lack of progress has left many disillusioned. IHO’s event, “It Starts with Housing,” invites an in-depth discussion on finding comprehensive and collaborative solutions.

As passionate advocates for affordable housing and the legacy and resilience of communities, IHO recognizes that high-quality housing is the foundation for thriving communities and intersects with health and well-being, a strong workforce, educational mobility, cultural vibrancy, social systems, safety, tax revenue, tourism, infrastructure, finance, art and design, personal and economic growth.

This is the first in a series of IHO symposiums that will engage thought leaders to discuss innovative, collaborative, and implementable solutions that are scalable, sustainable, and replicable.

Innovative Housing Opportunities (IHO) enriches communities by providing high-quality affordable housing and services. IHO’s vision is to ignite powerful change that increases economic resilience and improves the quality of life for the people and communities we serve. Our development portfolio provides housing to residents from diverse incomes, backgrounds, ages, and abilities. As a boutique development studio, IHO is committed to utilizing sound business practices, creative placemaking, architecture and design, arts and culture, robust community engagement, and collaboration across sectors to create holistic environments that are scalable and replicable. We endeavor to develop and invest in people and legacies, not just buildings. Formed in 1976 to help business and government address the lack of low- to moderate-income housing in the city of Irvine, IHO today works throughout California in strategic partnerships that creatively and effectively maximize efficiencies to achieve the most attractive and well-managed environments for residents and the surrounding communities. www.ihocommunities.org.
